"Best food and ale in York"

A review of The Royal Oak by Brian May written on Wednesday 18th of August 2010

If I lived in York this would be my local. Can't fault it. They know how to keep their beer and the food is great. Four of us all ordered steak and ale pie (Henry 8th Pie). We all agreed it was the best pie we'd had in any pub.

The staff told us there had been a change of landlord. All I can say is the new landlady and chef are doing a great job and the staff were so helpful.

By the way its worth a visit to see the old fashioned gents toilets. They should be in a museum.

10/10.
