Unless you use Heworth Post Office !

Obtaining a Visa has always been a source of frustration for me. So much depends on the smooth processing of the applications. I have used Heworth Post Office for several years without problems but this year I needed one for Burma and decided to ask their advice prior to packaging and posting my four applications and passports. The lady at the counter immediately gave me a full requirements briefing and Special Delivery envelope to take home, telling me the approximate postage cost. On my return she took complete charge of the packaging, produced a postal order to cover (cheques are not accepted),

Addressed the return SD enveloppe for me , put elastic bands around all the required contents before inserting them and sealing and weighing the package. She then advised me on internet tracking.

The Visas arrived without problems 9 days later to a greatful Heworth Post Office customer - Thank you!

A few days later I realised that my vehicle road tax was going to expire during my 6 weeks absence – what could I do ? I searched the DVLA website, then spent 10 minutes on the telephone talking to machines to try and get an answer without success, then my wife said that she had noticed that Heworth Post Office now handled vehicle relicensing. Ken answered the phone, listened to my query and promised to investigate, rang me back 10 minutes later because I had given him the wrong dates, then answered my original question straight away, promising to renew the tax disc before I leave for Burma.
